About role
The Senior Software Asset & License Manager is responsible for ensuring that all software assets across the organization are effectively governed, compliant, and optimized from both cost and usage perspective.
This role drives transparency in software usage, reinforces clear business ownership of applications, and ensures adherence to licensing agreements, audit requirements, and internal IT & Data policies.
As a key contributor to cost optimization and risk mitigation, the role supports the standardization and efficiency of the global IT landscape, enabling better decision-making and sustainable software management practices.
Main responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain a global software asset management framework including clear Business and Technical ownership
- Ensure compliance with license agreements, contracts, and audit requirements
- Prepare and lead software license audits (internal and vendor-driven)
- Monitor and analyze software usage vs. license allocation
- Support budget planning and cost forecasting for software
- Support Indirect Procurement on vendor negotiations through commercial analysis, including usage reviews, benchmarking, pricing assessments, and TCO evaluations
- Define and track KPIs for software asset management
Qualifications and personal skills:
- At least 5 years’ experience in Software Asset Management (SAM) and License Management
- Experience with large enterprise software landscapes (SAP, Microsoft, Salesforce)
- Strong understanding of software licensing models (subscription, SaaS, perpetual, enterprise agreements
- Commercial understanding of vendor negotiations, pricing structures and contract terms
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Proactive and cost-conscious mindset
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
