Pioneer the next generation of production testing at FOSS
Are you a visionary engineering leader ready to redefine how complex hardware is tested? Join us as our new Head of Production Test Engineering and play a pivotal role in ensuring the exceptional quality of our analytical solutions for the global food and agriculture industries. At FOSS, we are committed to developing the world's leading analytical solutions, and rigorous testing is key to our mission. In this leadership position, your work will directly ensure the integrity and performance of every product we develop.
Your mission: architecting smart production systems
You will provide technical and strategic leadership to a dedicated, specialized group of approximately 13 engineers focused exclusively on production test development and production test systems. Working in dynamic, cross-functional development teams, you will deliver new analytical solutions to the global market. You will work in close partnership with the New Product Development project teams and the Test Project Managers to plan project deliveries and ensure we create meaningful production test solutions that add real value to the production line. You will be responsible for looking beyond today's tools to set vision, define and implement our next-generation test architecture.
How you will make an impact
Your role bridges daily operational excellence with long-term strategic innovation. In this collaborative leadership role, you will:
- Define the strategic roadmap: Architect the future of Production Test Engineering at FOSS by identifying and evaluating new testing platforms, software frameworks, and scalable hardware architectures.
- Pioneer smart testing: Drive a strategic shift in how we test by implementing advanced module-level testing and maximizing the use of instrument self-tests to streamline the production line.
- Optimize production metrics: Design test strategies that not only guarantee quality but also optimize production cycle times, maximize yield, and ensure cost-effective CAPEX investments.
- Integrate early testability: Act as the crucial bridge between R&D and Manufacturing, ensuring new products are designed from day one to be easily, automatically, and reliably tested.
- Empower the team: Guide, mentor, and inspire a team of skilled test engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, curiosity, and continuous innovation.
- Influence early design: Participate actively in design reviews to provide critical input on hardware testability, influencing the product design from an early stage.
- Manage external technology partners: Collaborate with vendors to ensure the seamless integration of production test equipment.
The leadership we need in engineering
To succeed in this role, you are a strategic thinker with a talent for change management and stakeholder alignment. You know how to guide a team through technological shifts, fostering an environment of curiosity and high performance. We envision that you have:
- A Master's degree in Electrical, Mechatronic, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Technical and strategic leadership experience and a proven track record in creating efficient and motivated teams
- Solid experience in hardware test design and manufacturing environments, preferably from the low-volume electronics or technology industry.
- A solid understanding of LabVIEW and TestStand, as well as experience with other programming languages (such as Python, C#, or C++), to effectively guide the team's technical direction and evaluate future platforms.
- A strong track record of innovating production test setups, including experience exploring new software platforms and implementing modern test philosophies (such as module tests and instrument self-tests).
- A great understanding of how effective production and supply chains work, and how tests contribute to a robust value chain.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is required. It is a strong plus if you can communicate with our Danish production colleagues in Danish.
