We are looking for a Business Development Specialist – Applications to join our sales team. This role is designed for a scientifically inclined professional who is eager to bridge the gap between customer needs and FOSS’s advanced NIR, Mycotoxin, and analytical solutions. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the sales team, driving application discussions, developing calibrations, and demonstrating the value of our technologies—all while contributing to business growth with a modest sales target.

Key responsibilities include:
Pre-sales Application Support
Working with pre-sales application support means that you will conduct technical discussions with prospects and customers to understand their process challenges.
You will be advising and relevant FOSS solutions based on application needs in palm Oil, Feed, Distillery, Food Processing, and allied industries and support product demonstrations, sample testing, and trials with strong application insights.
Calibration & Application Development
Tasks within this fields means assisting in the development and optimization of NIR calibrations based on customer samples, coordinating with global application teams and service specialists to deliver robust calibrations.
Based on the data, you will analyse and interpret and present your recommendations.
Customer Engagement & Business Development
You will support the sales team in key account development by driving technical credibility and long-term solution building. You will be the owner of the relationship with technical teams of the customer (QA/QC/R&D)
Sales Contribution
Collaborating with Sales Managers you build proposals and ensure alignment between customer requirements and FOSS offerings. By this you contribute to lead conversion by addressing objections, performing technical ROI justifications, and showcasing analytical benefits.
In addition to above, you will from time to time also assist with post-sales support, where you will support handover to service teams for successful implementation and training and follow up on performance-related concerns or recalibration needs with relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications & Skills
To succeed in this role, we are looking for a profile with 5–10 years of experience in food/feed/distillery or analytical instrument industry. If you have had prior exposure to NIR (near Infra-red) or quality control instrumentation it is considered a plus, but it’s not a requirement.
We imagine your Educational Background is a degree in Food Technology, Food Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
Knowledge of Spectroscopy, Chemometrics, or NIR technology preferred.
What else are you bringing?
We are looking for a profile with a strong understanding of food/feed product matrices and quality parameters. You should thrive with data interpretation, calibration building (or interest in learning), and scientific report generation.
To succeed in the role, you must be good at communicating, explaining technical details to internal and external stakeholders.
Business language is English, so written and verbal English is a requirement.

Since you will support the region, you should expect ~40–50% travel activities across Malaysia, Indonesia & Brunei.
