What you will be doing
As our new Head of Business Development you will be responsible for leading and setting the direction for a team of Business Developers and Business Analysts that focus on investigating and qualifying new business and technology opportunities for FOSS. Combining our corporate strategy, customer understanding and market trends within food and agriculture, your task is to ensure a strong and well-qualified pipeline of opportunities across industries, countries, and regions. You will be responsible for driving FOSS's organic growth, defining our strategy and partnerships, and – together with our Business Units – exploring inorganic growth and M&A opportunities, including both investments and divestments, across our portfolios.
To succeed, you will ensure that your team can:
- Turn strategy into focus – translate FOSS’s corporate and segment strategy into clear priorities, qualify opportunities with evidence and have the discipline to say no, so the team’s energy goes to the few bets worth pursuing.
- Translate both ways – turn customer pain and market drivers into problems R&D can solve, and turn FOSS’s technical capability into opportunities the business can pursue.
- Let customers decide, not the room – get the team in front of real customers early and test opportunities on mock-ups before committing.
- Make Business Development the trusted partner of the innovation funnel – earn R&D’s respect and confidence in your team, so qualified opportunities become funded programs and projects.
- Make agile a team capability – build FOSS’s agile ways of working and the shared toolbox that help Business Developers validate markets and qualify opportunities in fast, evidence-led loops.
Your team is part of Business Innovation, which brings together three teams: Analytics Development, Concept Design and Business Development. We work in small, agile project teams towards a shared goal – identifying and maturing promising new solutions for FOSS. As highlighted above, agile ways of working are central to how we operate, and it is a toolbox we are still actively building. Once an opportunity is matured, we ensure the knowledge and intent are properly transferred for further execution within FOSS R&D or with external partners.

What you will bring to the table
We believe that strong results come from being a visible, ambitious, and compassionate leader who can provide the necessary direction and guidance. You will lead a young team of dedicated Business Developers and Business Analysts. We are looking for a leader who can build the right culture – one grounded in curiosity, close collaboration, and the courage to prioritize. As part of the Business Innovation leadership group, we also expect you to help shape our shared strategy and priorities across the three teams, role-model the culture we want to build, and represent Business Innovation and its agenda toward the wider FOSS organization. We expect that you have:
- A master's degree within areas like Business, Innovation and/or Strategy.
- Leadership experience from a similar role.
- A track record of turning early-stage ideas into new products that have penetrated the market.
- An analytical mindset that can turn complex topics into a clear direction
- Experience with product development.
- Great communication and English skills.
- Experience within food or agricultural related industries is a plus.
- Experience with agile ways of working is a plus.
