At FOSS, innovation isn’t just a value - it’s in our DNA. Our mission to enable more sustainable use of the world’s food resources is shared by more than 300 dedicated R&D professionals located in two global innovation hubs. We develop industry-leading analytical solutions that empower food and agricultural businesses worldwide - and we’re just getting started.

We are looking for a technically skilled and experienced Senior Scientist specialized in assay development to join our Research and Development department.

Our team culture is open, transparent, and built on helping each other when needed. We value clear prioritization, even in a dynamic environment with multiple shifting tasks.

About the Role

As a Senior Scientist in the Assay Development team, you will play a key role in lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) development. Your day-to-day work will happen in close collaboration with your colleagues in the Assay Development team (designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting assays together) while also keeping the project manager and other stakeholders informed on progress and timelines. Some travel could occasionally be expected to support this.

Your Key Responsibilities

 •      You will design, develop, and optimize lateral flow strip assays from concept to prototype.

•       You will plan and execute experimental work within your area, critically evaluate results, and troubleshoot performance issues.

•       You will take responsibility for the quality and reliability of your own work, keeping the customer at center

•       You will contribute to timeline planning and report progress to the project manager.

•       You will guide the selection of raw materials, reagents, and components, and liaise with suppliers where needed.

•       You will share your expertise, mentor and support colleagues.

What You Bring

•     BSc/MSc (or higher) in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Immunology, or a related Life Sciences field.

•     Hands-on industry experience (development, manufacturing or quality control) with lateral flow (LFIA) assays is mandatory.

•     Solid understanding of lateral flow chemistry, membrane materials, and conjugate/label technologies is essential.

•     Good communication skills both in Hungarian and English (written and verbal).

Who You Are

You are a strong team player who collaborates well with the project manager and colleagues to reach shared goals. You work independently and take initiative to keep projects moving forward. Your working style is thorough; you verify important details and leave no gaps in documentation or data. You see your work through to completion, persevering through setbacks, and are comfortable mentoring less experienced colleagues.

Why Join FOSS?

At FOSS, you’ll be part of an international company that is a global leader in analytical solutions for food and agriculture. You’ll work with cutting-edge technologies, dedicated colleagues, and real-world challenges that matter. Expect a collaborative culture grounded in trust, openness, and teamwork - where your ideas are welcomed and your contributions valued.
