Landgang is the German word for shore leave, and in the heart of Hamburg’s busy harbor area, Landgang Brauerie produces craft beer catering to traditional German pilsner tastes, non-alcoholic drinks, and American IPAs. Founded in 2015, with two types of beer and 500 hectolitres, the brewery has grown in popularity and capacity and is now selling to leading bars in Hamburg and supermarkets across the country.
“When we started, we analyzed our beer in the traditional way, meaning degassing, filtering, and testing,” explains Sasha Bruun, founder of Landgang Brauerei. “I remember taking the sample and cycling to a nearby test facility. It was such a complex and time-consuming process.” He laughs: “We started as a hobby brewery, but as we grew bigger and started looking into buying our own instrument, the BeerFoss™ was an obvious choice.”
Together with the team, Sasha is brewing transparent and honest beer using only European products and equipment. And for the BeerFoss™ FT Go: “We use it in all parts of the process. To analyze the finished product, for yeast original extract determination, in the proving and storage process, in the fermentation process and finally when bottling.” He explains: ”BeerFoss helps improve quality. With the BeerFoss I can constantly measure the values. I can find deviations relatively quickly, which previously was either too late or couldn’t be determined to the right degree of accuracy. The BeerFoss is pretty much plug-and-play. No need for big installation, you just put in the sample and within 3 minutes you have the result with key quality parameters.”
