Do you want to help us reach this ambition? Foss Analytical A/S is looking for an ambitious and skilled data scientist/chemometrician to join our team and help deliver analytics for our instrument portfolio. 

The job

As a Chemometrician/Data Scientist you will be part of the Analytics and Data Management team, in the Technology organization which is part of FOSS R&D. You will be strengthening our team of three energetic and outgoing data scientists, with a passion for application development and production processes. Your daily work you be in close collaboration with Business developers, service engineers, product specialists and fellow data scientist across the global organization, to deliver chemometric applications and evaluate new solutions. This could be as a part of a dedicated project team or with you running the chemometric applications development independently.

The position is full time, and you will work from FOSS Innovation Center in Hillerød. We are ready to welcome our new colleague as soon as possible.

Primary task

Your main responsibility will be to develop and evaluate new chemometric applications for our portfolio of instruments (primarily focused on NIR, FT IR, X-ray and flow cytometry). You will be responsible for data analysis, as well as obtaining and providing application insight needed to deliver the high standard our customers associate with a FOSS solution.

Coordination and problem solving in close collaboration with other project team members and stakeholders is part of your daily work. Some travel activities in relation to customer visits can be expected.

Qualifications

You hold a M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree in a relevant engineering discipline, food science, chemistry, chemometrics or similar, and have qualifications within the following areas:

  • Chemometric modelling including multivariate regression techniques (e.g., PLS, ANN) and multivariate exploratory methods (e.g., PCA)
  • Skilled Matlab user including use of toolboxes for data analysis
  • Knowledge of, and preferably experience with, measuring and analyzing in-line process data.
  • Knowledge of, and preferably experience with, near infrared and mid infrared spectroscopy
  • Keen interest in a wide array of food/agri products and in developing real-life applications to benefit FOSS customers
  • It is a prerequisite that you are fluent in written and spoken English

In order to succeed in the position, you will need to be structured and able to coordinate and communicate with a diverse group of stakeholders.
