At FOSS, we are driven by a strong sense of purpose, and we hope you are too. A fast growing world population means that the global food production will have to increase by 60% by 2050 to meet demand. In FOSS, we want to come up with smarter ways to make the best use of agricultural resources by being in the frontline of innovation. If that sounds like something that motivates you, then read on.

Join our R&D department: Here you will boost your professional qualifications in collaboration with great colleagues

We are looking for an ambitious and highly skilled R&D scientist to drive the development of our future X-ray based instrument for quality control and analysis of meat products. You will be become part of the Spectroscopy team in the Technology department of R&D. The team is responsible for innovation, development and support of the measuring systems of FOSS’ product based on either FT-IR, NIR, X-ray and computer vision technology.

Together, the teams in Technology hold a high level of experience and competence within optics, physics, electronics, biochemistry and microbiology. We strive to deliver solutions performing to the edge the technology with world leading relation between performance, cost, footprint and reliability.

You will help develop and implement current and future X-ray based instruments

As our new scientist/physicist you will have a specific focus on the core technology – from lab environment to full-scale production. You responsibilities will include having the technical overview of the complete measuring system in an instrument project.

You will be a central team member and succeed by obtaining complete and detailed knowledge of the path from sample to finished result and the interfaces to the rest of the instrument. You will be working closely together with an experienced scientist, ready to help and support you when needed.

Your tasks will span experimental work and measurements, simulations and design. This is in close collaboration with data scientists, mechanical and electrical engineers, software development and other departments outside R&D. Key to succeeding is the ability to plan, coordinate and communicate results to the project members and stakeholders.

Are you an analytic problem solver ?

Then you will fit in well. We imagine that you have a M.Sc. degree in engineering, physics or similar and most likely a Ph.D. You have proven results working with experimental physics, and preferably experience with a number of the following topics:

  • X-ray technologies.
  • Data analysis in e.g. MatLab or Phyton.
  • Instrument development.

People describe you as structured, innovative and self-driven, yet you value a strong team and the effort to share knowledge. Your record of accomplishment shows an excellent ability to understand complex systems and to work systematically with troubleshooting incl. designing and performing experiments. Further, you have a curious mind, thrive on challenges and can integrate the work from many engineering disciplines. If you recognize yourself in the above description, we look forward to hearing from you!
