Welcome to R&D Hardware
The R&D Hardware department is responsible for developing mechanics and electronics for our analytical instruments and we have many world class solutions in the field and exciting new projects in the pipeline that require state of the art hardware solutions. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer for our “Product Engineering” team which is a department focused on our existing portfolio as well as smaller projects. The area cover disciplines of both electronics and mechanics.  

The R&D Hardware department comprises of more than 60 developers and makes up for about 1/4 of the R&D organization in FOSS - and we are growing. 

The job
Foss develops and produces state of the art analysis instruments for analysis of milk, meat, grain, wine and more. Our instruments combine sophisticated flow systems and mechanical features with state-of-the-art electronics and optics. In this position, we expect you to solve quality and performance issues. Your daily tasks will be diverse and will typically span from root cause analysis of mechanical faults to securing the performance of the instrument.

Tasks thus often require a coordinated effort across the organization, and you will get to work with many different teams and colleagues. You will join a team of highly skilled mechanical and electrical engineers.

You will be close to our customers, both external and internal and will be a key part of improving our products in many ways. The feedback loop for changes and improvements is short and you will hence receive fast feedback and praise on solutions and improvements.

Your daily work will be at the FOSS innovation center in Hillerød Denmark, with only few traveling days per year.  

Qualifications
The preferred candidate holds a Master of Science or a Bachelor of Science in Precision Mechanical engineering, and has experience within the following fields:

  • Mechanical product development in metals and/or plastics
  • Instrument design e.g. high precision systems
  • 3D CAD tools (we use Autodesk Inventor)
  • Strong knowledge of materials properties and fabrication methods
  • Understanding of one or more of the following elements: metrology, precision-mechanics, micro-mechanics, injection-molding
  • Some familiarity with electromechanics and/or optomechanics.

Secondary Qualifications

  • AutoDesk Inventor
  • CREO
  • Experience working with SAP and Classifications

Personal skills
We expect you to have excellent spoken and written communication skills in Danish and English. It is important that you have good analytical skills and is well organized.

  • Ability to work in a structured way while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to multitask and provide team support
  • Be outspoken and easy communicator with a large group of colleagues

 Our instruments are complex; hence you need to be willing to share your work with other engineers and enjoy discussing the solutions, so we reduce risk and complexity as much as possible.
