We are looking for a Scientist specialized in spectroscopy to work on continuous improvement of the existing FOSS product portfolio.

FOSS develops and produces state-of-the-art analytical instruments for the analysis of milk, meat, grain, wine, and more. Our instruments combine state-of-the-art electronics and optics with sophisticated flow systems and mechanical features. This position is based in our Product Engineering team in the Research & Development department.

We work with a wide range of technologies such as NIR spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, X-ray imaging, flow cytometry, and automated chemical analysis. You will become an expert in supporting our instruments based on the before mentioned technologies.

The Job
As a Scientist in Product Engineering, your primary responsibilities will be to understand and focus on the measuring performance of the analytical instruments in our product portfolio.

You will solve quality and performance issues and your daily tasks will be diverse and will typically span from the collection of data and information, root cause analysis of deviations in the measuring performance, updating and improving the measuring chain, and validating the implemented changes. Furthermore, you will be an active contributor to the development of new products.

Tasks are typically driven as smaller projects with your colleagues in the Product Engineering team or with in-house specialists being Service Engineers, Production, Sourcing, and your colleagues in the R&D department.

You hold a Master’s degree, preferably with a Ph.D. degree, in physical chemistry, spectroscopy, optics, or physics, and you have good analytical skills.

Having a multidisciplinary background and experience using Matlab or similar tools is considered an advantage.

You must have a Danish work permit to apply for the job, and it is considered an advantage to write and speak Danish.

Personal skills
To succeed as a System Engineer in FOSS you must have a structured approach to your work and you are able to generate and communicate an overview for non-specialist stakeholders, rather than going into details and enjoy complex problem-solving.

You are talented at building strong working relationships, managing projects with many stakeholders, and working with many different people.

You apply critical thinking in your work and you thrive on challenging tasks under time pressure if a customer is waiting or production needs a fast solution.

You are self-driven and have a natural curiosity for learning new things – seeing solutions when looking at problems.

We picture you as a team player with a good sense of humor.

We offer
FOSS offers an interesting job in a dynamic work environment in an international atmosphere with a high focus on innovation and customer experience. You will work in a flat organization with a high degree of cooperation across all departments.

At FOSS, we value our employees. Cooperation based on confidence, straightforward communication, and clear objectives gives job satisfaction and good colleagues. We wish to motivate our employees to take responsibility and influence their work situation.

FOSS has many unique products in the portfolio and pipeline that need your attention; therefore, we look forward to welcoming you on board!
